Don’t ever get sick in the United States without insurance. Because if you do, there’s a huge chance you’ll catch an illness just as you lose your coverage, and then you’re left to pick up the pieces of your crumbling health on your own. We are literal slaves to our careers because our lives can depend on keeping that job. All it takes is ONE serious diagnosis, one insanely expensive medication, and you’re in a world of shit. Pray you don’t get laid off from an employer you’ve worked at for over a decade+. There is no safety net, there are no companies who are going to remember all your loyalty and all the hard work you may have put in.
